This angled, hillside-walkout design is eye-catching with a mix of siding, stone, and board-and-batten accents. The portico entry leads to a foyer with a coat closet and powder room for guests. With an island and pantry nearby, the kitchen is positioned for front views. The great room and dining room are open for easy entertaining and a side screened porch and sprawling rear porch with skylights take living outdoors. The master suite is truly luxurious and offers direct access to the utility room through the master closet. A mud room off the garage entry is perfect for stashing bags, shoes, and coats. Downstairs, two bedrooms each have a walk-in closet and a shared full bathroom. A recreation room is available for entertaining or relaxing and double doors lead to a lower level porch.
The modern farmhouse style borrows from the rustic, contemporary and industrial trends to create a living space that’s chic and homey. The modern farmhouse look can add authenticity and personality to new floor plans. If you’re thinking of modern farmhouse open floor plans, find out how interior and exterior farmhouse touches can perfect the look of your new construction home.
Updated farmhouses tend to stick to a plain color palette outside. Think natural wood, bright white and deep blacks. Farmhouses tend to have board and batten or lap siding over shingles or shakes. By keeping the exterior of the house simple, you can highlight the shape and architectural features of the home.

The Gellar is a simple ranch home plan with an efficient exterior and a thoughtful floor plan. The kitchen centers around an island and enjoys an adjoining breakfast nook and a separate dining room. The great room gains visual space from a cathedral ceiling and continues outdoors to a screened porch with skylights. Designed for couples, the master suite offers two walk-in closets and a dual-sink vanity in the master bathroom, along with a freestanding bathtub, walk-in shower and skylights. The garage is oriented to the rear of the floor plan and just inside is a drop zone for everyday items and a utility room with a laundry sink. A powder room and a coat closet in the foyer are available for guests while two additional bedrooms share a full bathroom with a double-sink vanity.
