House Plan 1549 has been named The Eugene and is now available!

This simple design features a siding and cedar shake exterior. The gables are adorned with decorative brackets and shutters frame the windows. The front porch is accented with columns and a stone skirts adds character. A front entry garage and a narrower width make this design neighborhood friendly.

Just inside the foyer, a coat closet is available for guests. The dining room is open and defined by columns. The great room features a fireplace and built-in shelves and shares a cathedral ceiling with the kitchen. Rear doors exit to a deck and patio. The kitchen centers around an island and skylights provide overhead light while a window over the sink opens the view. A pantry is nearby for storage and the utility room can be accessed through a barn door to keep messes contained. A sun tunnel brings natural light to the utility room. Storage with built-in shelves can be found in the garage and a built-in seat and linen closet are just inside the garage entry for an easy drop-off zone for coats, bags, and shoes.

The master suite is a true retreat with a cathedral ceiling, two skylights, and direct access to the rear deck. Two walk-in closets and a dual-sink vanity are perfect for couples and a walk-in shower completes the luxurious master bathroom. Two additional bedrooms are to the opposite side of the floor plan and share a bathroom with a double-sink vanity.

Northwood Plan 209 | Rendering-to-Reality

The Northwood home plan 209 is under construction in Travelers Rest, SC!

By: Echo Jones - Marketing Assistant

When I began my career at Donald Gardner Architects, I never dreamed that one day I would be building my own Gardner home. About two years ago my husband Bryon and I began looking for a house to purchase. Our wish list may have been a bit ambitious because nothing we found met our expectations. One night while out on a walk with our dog, Bryon said to me, “you know, you look at house plans all day, maybe we should build one”. The thought had never crossed my mind. Did I even want to build a house? It was an exciting and intimidating possibility.

I came to work the next day with a new perspective. If I were to pick a Gardner plan, which one would fit our needs? Our house search came up empty, mostly because we wanted 10+ acres of land and our home style is very contemporary (see mention of ambitious wish list above!). Building gave us the possibility to have both and it suddenly became very clear that yes, we did want to build a house.

We are excited to document our planning and home building process of The Northwood home plan in this personal “Rendering to Reality” series. Check back soon for updates!

Ideas for Creating the Perfect Laundry Room

Consider A Dedicated Laundry Room In Your House

Find a house plan with a dedicated laundry room.

The Hollowcrest House Plan 5019

Building a home provides numerous benefits, but at the top of many people’s lists is the ability to choose the new house designs features — to have everything they wanted for a comfortable lifestyle.

For many, this includes a large, dedicated laundry room. The modern laundry room has evolved from a simple closet area that fits a washer and dryer, or a spot in the garage or basement, to a full room that addresses all laundry needs.

Here are some reasons why dedicated laundry room solutions are ideal for your newly built home.

House Plan 1546 | Small One-Story

House Plan 1546 has been named The Francis and is now available!

Cedar shakes provide balance to the board-and-batten exterior of this modest Craftsman home plan. A front entry garage and narrower footprint make this design ideal for a neighborhood lot. Shutters frame the windows and a front porch creates a charming aesthetic.

The floor plan lives large despite its modest square footage, with a cathedral ceiling that extends from the kitchen to the great room. A fireplace provides warmth while an array of skylights in the great room and one in the kitchen flood this space with natural light. A window over the sink offers views to the backyard and a rear deck extends living outdoors. A spacious dining room works equally well for formal or casual meals and a pantry is near the kitchen for easy storage.

House Plan 1519 | Compact Living

House Plan 1519 has been named The Fillion and is now available!

The Fillion is minimalist design at its best. The simple exterior is adorned with a shed dormer and board-and-batten on the front gable. The front entry opens to a great room that feels larger with a cathedral ceiling. Natural light visually expands this design, from the skylights in the kitchen and master bedroom to a thoughtfully placed sun tunnel. Separated from the secondary bedrooms, the master suite is private and accesses a rear deck.
