2239 sq ft, 4 beds, 3 baths

A simplified roofline creates interest with thoughtfully placed gable accents. Tapered columns highlight the front porch and welcome guests to the sidelight framed entry. Inside, the floor plan is equally thoughtful, with a spacious great room, open kitchen with island, and single dining space. The master suite is expansive with dual walk-in closets and a bathroom comfortably suited for two. Additional features include a walk-in pantry, oversized utility room, three-car garage, and an inviting screened porch with cathedral ceiling, skylights, and a fireplace. Two additional bedrooms and a study round-out this classic design.

Hi, we are building the Lucy in Va. All the framing is up, progress going well. We loved what the Duttons did with the kitchen, plan to do the same. Our issue is figuring out where to put the microwave. Thinking it must be somewhere not visible in the photos. If we can get some guidance that would be great! We will get our photos together soon!

Hi Sharron, The Lucy has an island so you could install a drawer-style microwave there. If you didn’t mind having it out of the kitchen, you could set it up in the pantry. I don’t see from the photos a designated space for the microwave in the Dutton home. If they see this message, I’m sure they will be happy to respond!

      Sharron,
I think the microwave is hidden in the bottom half of the top cabinet on the left in Phase 4, 2nd kitchen pic. You can see the hole for it in Phase 3, 3rd picture top cabinet on the right in back of kitchen.
      I love that house!

Hi Sharon, sorry I just saw your post. Our microwave has been the adventure as the trim kit arrived over a month after moving in. We have it installed now and it’s located to the left of the stove in the built in cabinet in the corner. The hole in the pic. We put a pull out below with a pull up door for our coffee maker so when closed you don’t see it. The microwave is clean there and at a good height. We also considered putting it in the island but just didn’t have room. Good luck with your home. Let us know if you have questions.

I am building this house currently. The only recommendation I can give is to possibly raise the living room ceiling three feet. There is plenty of room to do that. Other than that the floorplan is great. I also shed off the back roof line from the porch off the living room to build an outdoor kitchen. Will be sharing pictures soon.

Wow! Looks great. My husband and I will be building a new house next year. At the moment “The Lucy” is our favorite. I’ve been searching for actual photos of the house, finally found this. I can’t wait to see the pics after completed

Beautiful!!! We are in the middle of building this same house! Ours is reversed, doesn’t have the second back porch with fireplace, but does have a full basement. Good luck with your build!

West of Asheville, NC and would be very interested in walking through the house after fully dried in. Narrowed down to 3 DG house plans at this time.

Everyday I fall more and more in love with this house. The floor is almost completed. Kitchen cabinets are going in as well as tile. Siding is going on exterior. Can’t wait to display what my wife has done with the kitchen design which is what she does everyday. The woodwork and trim is going to be a great accent. We are getting very close. Stay tuned.

Would like to mention a couple of suppliers and thank them. Builders First Source in Aberdeen for supplying all of the building supplies. My wife Maggie Dutton and Maggie Dutton Interior Design designing the kitchen and baths. She laid out the kitchen design today with a great oversized island that will be the feature in the kitchen. The framers with Jimmy Brooks Construction have been great and very efficient. Can’t wait for Jeff Locklear to finish the brickwork and fireplace. I have a great mantle piece that I can’t wait to show you. Lots of work happening next week so stay tuned.

Thanks for featuring our home. If anyone has questions please send them. We have made a few changes to the plans but nothing major. We flipped the house plan, went with brick Foundation, some changes to kitchen layout, screen porch will be open with railing, master bath flipped the shower and toilet. This is a great plan. I hope you enjoy the process as much as we are. Stay tuned for more pictures.
