The Carden house plan 1439 is Now Available!

Rustic elements complement The Carden, from the cedar shakes and metal accent roof to the decorative gable brackets. The floor plan is completely open with the great room and dining room blending under a cathedral ceiling. Outdoor living is lavish with a massive screened porch equipped with a fireplace and an array of skylights. A true retreat, the master suite offers an oversized walk-in shower and two walk-in closets with sun tunnels to bring in natural light. Two bedrooms and a bathroom are to the opposite side of the floor plan and an optional bonus room and bathroom are upstairs for a guest suite or future expansion.

Home Plan 1439 is an updated version of The High Pointe home plan 713. This home features a rustic exterior with wooden brackets adorning multiple front-facing gables. A dormer and metal roof add character along with stone skirting.

Thoughtful details begin in the foyer with a bench seat and storage closet. The great room and dining area are completely open, allowing the homeowner to designate this space as needed. The kitchen enjoys nearby walk-in pantry storage and an over-sized utility room with sink is just steps away.

The master suite includes all the luxuries one would expect in a larger home. The master suite is spacious and feels even grander with the added height of a tray ceiling. Within the master bathroom you will find dual walk-in closets and a double vanity along with a soaking bathtub and walk-in shower. Two additional bedrooms share a bath on the opposite side of the home.

Outdoor living is plentiful with a front porch, rear porch with skylights, and a screened porch with fireplace and cathedral ceiling. Extra storage in the two-car garage for outdoor equipment.

    This plan appears to be very functional. One Q I have is: would it be possible to add a single car garage (3rd bay) with the door facing the street; that is, perpendicular to the 2 car garage? Yes I’d be willing to eliminate the window in the master bedroom toilet.

    I really like this plan (but then, I’ve got several Don Gardner plans pinned on my Pinterest board!). I like that you have added features usually found in much larger homes. Major YES to the bench and closet in the foyer!! For guests who have difficulty walking but are not ready for a wheelchair, having seating in the foyer for them to rest a moment is a Godsend (and something most home designers don’t think about). (Speaking of which, do you have any Universal Design plans?)

    The only thing I would suggest on this plan? How about moving the front bedroom to be even with the back bedroom, move its walk-in closet to back up to the foyer closet, and add a powder room at the front left of the foyer?

    Is there a basement option on this plan? Need a man-cave for the hubby because the bonus room is mine! (said with a smile).

      We have a small collection of universal designs but any of our designs can be modified to fit your specific needs.

    I love this plan! I would love to see the dining space and the kitchen space reversed. That would open the foyer and dining area to more view out of the front of the house. With the kitchen on the back, I would place the sink on back wall with a large window to view the back yard. When will this plan be available?

    I really like this plan. There is a lot in the square footage available. Most importantly there is storage in the right places. I have had a very similar kitchen and feel that it needs to be widened to 14′. The current space is just a bit tight. Also the pantry is awkward to get to from the kitchen.
    Personally, I find that a room for the toilet is a waste of space, especially when there are so many bathrooms. But I do think it is important to have a window in every bathroom – no matter how strong the fans/air exchangers, it is hard to control the moisture and mildew in a bathroom without windows.

    Hi Don Gardner,
    Push the master back, even to Liv wall and garage could open left, also 3rd garage ez access ..
    May I suggest a more petite / budget / Cottage plan ?
    Get rid of the 2 beds on the left and move them into the basement & no need for the loft space. U shape stairs would go down, not up.

    I really like this floor plan. My thoughts would be to make the “kitchen area” the dining room and have the “dining room” the kitchen with a bar over looking the living area.
    I also would like to know if a 3rd bathroom could be added for each bedroom to have own bathroom? Also, will this plan be completed?

      Hello Jessica, we can modify our plans to add rooms such as an additional bathroom. Design 1439 is still in the conceptual phase, meaning it has not been selected for completion at this time. If we receive a lot of positive feedback on the design or if the someone purchases the design, it will get added to our schedule for completion.     I would like to park full size pick up side by side and be able to close the garage. The 22 ft dimension makes me think this will be a tight fit. What would expanding the garage involve? Is there enough room to add an exterior door from the garage beside the garage door?

      Hi Karl, We are able to enlarge garages to fit the homeowners needs. On any active plan in our portfolio, you would simply submit a modification request and let the designer know what dimensions you’re requesting to get a quote. Since design 1439 is still a conceptual design, it would have to be purchased or selected for completion before the design could be finalized and modifications could be made.       Hi Connie, Design 1439 does not have the option for a third garage bay at this time. However, it could be modified to add a third bay. This design is currently in the conceptual phase. We will update the blog if it is chosen for completion.
