Sherwin-Williams has announced their 2019 Color of the Year!
It’s never too early to start planning ahead if you are building or just redecorating in 2019. Sherwin-Williams has announced their Color of the Year for 2019 as Cavern Clay (SW7701). It’s perfect timing, as this hue is also a great fall color. If you’re not ready commit to a new paint color or even an accent wall, you can still draw inspiration from this earthy shade in your home decor. Cacti and succulents are a huge trend in home decor right now and just planting a few in terracotta pots is a great and subtle way to introduce this warm shade into your home.
Described as “a warm terracotta color with ancient, elemental roots”, Cavern Clay pairs well with other neutral colors, such as gray, brown, and white. For a retro vibe, try combining with earthy blues and greens.
“Cavern Clay is a nod to midcentury modern style, but with the soul of the American Southwest, which together creates a desert modern aesthetic. This warm, earthy hue is both casual and refined. It can be the backdrop of a playful, welcoming dining room or kitchen when paired with bright tiles, warm stone and sculptural greenery. Complementary materials include leather, simple woodgrains and indigenous cacti in contemporary, sleek gardening planters. Cavern Clay is an easy way to bring the warmth of the outdoors in. Envision beaches, canyons and deserts, and sun-washed late summer afternoons—all of this embodied in one color.”
From kitchen islands and accent walls to the front door, here are some ideas for bringing this beautiful shade into your home.
