With its low-slung gables and unique clerestory, this modern Craftsman exterior home plan is distinctively appealing. Double doors open into the living space where the great room, dining room, and kitchen blend together. Retreating glass doors present rear views and expand living outdoors seamlessly. This home plan’s kitchen layout promotes easy work flow and casual entertaining, and the nearby mud and utility rooms are tucked away near the garage. The master suite is fully-appointed and situated across the home plan from two secondary bedrooms which share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom.

I love this house……So of course I’m looking to build the plan (actually the Pruitt), but want to get an understand the building costs. I had a builder tell me it’s around $325/sq ft (less foundation). Claims the home has some challenges. Regardless it seems on the high side, but trying to decipher if it’s builder or the house design that’s driving that price tag. Any input would be appreciated.

Hi Tofer, we are not involved in the building process and are not able to provide cost-to-build estimates since is can vary so much depending on your location and material selection. We always encourage homeowners to get no less than three bids when preparing to build a new home. As you can imagine, there is a lot of work that goes into building a new home and builder “A” is not going to build exactly like builder “B” or builder “C”. You should be able to gather a better understanding of the cost of building once you get a minimum of 3 bids. Feel free to contact us if you have specific questions about this design – 1-800-388-7580 or info@dongardner.com.

Great to see the finished house! This is a very lovely home in a great setting. I wish there were more pictures of the kitchen area and different angles from the front door. Thank you for sharing!

What modifications were done to the original plans. Were some of the dimensions scaled back, looks a little smaller than I thought it would, or maybe it’s just the angle of the pics.

Considering this floor plan with modifications. Hope to see pictures regularly because looking at a rendering doesn’t help me much.
